I purchased 100 Obama buttons before leaving home, intending to give them away on my trip, mostly to Kenyan citizens who seem as psyched as we are about Obama's victory. In reality, over half are gone. It was exuberant me who gave them away on Election Day. But since then we've needed to use them as, well, barter. Bartering with the hard-nosed Zimbabwean Immigration people. Bartering with the Kenyan airways when our bags weighed too much. I've got to run to a plane but I'll say more later!
